If Barack had an affair, would Michelle stay?

The uproar over South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford’s affair raises the issue of marital infidelity again. But given the high profile of the case, and that the mistress in question was a longtime friend, many people have an opinion.
Especially about whether Mrs. Sanford, Jenny, as she’s known, should stay or leave?
Sanford didn’t just have an affair he lingered with the other woman, dignifying her as someone “special” and a respite from his wife.
“This was a whole lot more than a simple affair, this was a love story,” Sanford said. “A forbidden one, a tragic one, but a love story at the end of the day.”
Which side of the fence you fall on is crystal-clear for a lot of people, but what if it was Barack?
What if Obama cheated on Michelle, with an “other woman” hussy, or worse, a dear family friend? Would Michelle be any less of a woman for staying there? Would she be able to maintain her “dignity and respect,” if she left?

It seems to me that this Sanford guy was really sweet on this other woman. We all know Monica was just a head-doctor. So Craig, that would make a difference for me. He BETTER NOT refer to her as friend if he knows whats good for him. And I agree, Assertive, his future interaction with the "other woman" would play a major part in my decision to stay or go as well. If she's, lets say, a co-worker, he'd better be updating his resume cuz he couldnt stay with that company any longer and still have me. Also, the reason why he cheated in the first place is another factor. Im sure if Michelle came to Barack and asked why he cheated and he responded "I OWNNO", she'd probably be ready to bust him upside the head! LOL!No reason would be a good reason but he'd have to better than that. True,cheating is cheating but there is a difference between cheating with the cashier at the local grocery story and my SISTER. But if I do decide to stay, he'd better make good and damn sure that I NOR he will ever have to worry about having to interact with her again. Unless she's the stalker type. Thats a WHOLE 'nother story.

I think for some women that plays a part because it would signify whether or not it was something that he could easily walk away from.At the end of the day cheating is cheating though, whether the man has a "real" relationship with the other woman OR it's "just sex".For me, it would all be contingent on his response to me when/if he did caught and his level of interaction with the other woman from that point forward. I'd have to be shown that he really wants me in his life; if he can't prove that to me THEN, he'd have to go. I'm a fairly forgiving person but I can love you from afar too LOL

It's an interesting issue. I wonder if how the cheating partner handles the other woman bears any weight. Sanford acknowledged his mistress to the world not as some dirty whore but as his true friend and pretty much respectfully spoke of her; Clinton on the other hand, totally dissed Monica as "that woman." I wonder if that bears any meaning on if the faithful spouse stays.

Im not sure. I, for one, dont think any woman is less of a woman if she decides to stay. its really up to her since she has to be the one to deal with those emotions. Every person has their own tolerance level. BTW: Thanks for adding me to your blog roll!!!! *mwah*Nik

Politicians have been cheating and having their dirty little affairs since the beginning of time LOLIf these women decide to stay with their husbands, that is their business. I know everyone isn't capable of forgiving the man they once loved for such indiscretion but I wouldn't judge a woman who does. I cannot measure the love she has for him and I don't know what reasons she may have for wanting to make her marriage work.Certain circumstances, I wouldn't stand by anyone…but then in other situations, I probably would try to work at it. There are some things I can adamantly say what I would or wouldn't do but this isn't one of those things LOL
