Obama to BP: Pay me, we run this beach
June 16, 2010 No Comments
The Obama administration has finally gotten tough with BP, getting the company to fork over $20 billion to pay for victims of the oil spill.
The government still has to define language that would define what “victim” is, because, well, it’s complicated.
I mean, if you enjoy going to the beach to watch bikini-clad women or sun-chiseled men frolick in the sun and the beach closings and general fear of the oil spill has shut that down, then, are you indeed a victim?
“We asked for that two weeks ago and they laughed at us,” Orange Beach, Alabama, Mayor Tony Kennon said. “Thank you, President Obama, for taking a bunch of rednecks’ suggestion and making it happen.”
The little man has won. Well, not all of them.
