The Skittles Wig Movement (gallery)

Not since the Bloods and Crips rose to prominence in the late 1980s have we seen so much blue and red on the street.

Everybody’s doing it.

The barista at your local coffee shop in the suburbs is doing it. The hood has been doing it. And now, celebrities — by the jetload — are doing it, too.

By “it” I mean wearing a wig. And they’re not just wearing earth tones like “sandy brown” either.

We’re witnessing the Rainbow Revolution, the Skittles on the crown. Red. Turquoise.  Kermit the Frog Green. Canary Yellow. And LOUD, too.

And don’t even get me started on blue: Baby blue, powder blue, sky blue, bubble gum blue, sea blue, I got the blues!

And let’s see, now, who can we blame this on? Lil Kim? Nicky Minaj? Gaga? Katy Perry?

Even babies (lord, not the babies!) are doing it!

Is this uptick in florescent-colored wigs just a flash in the pan, or does this stuff have legs?
