Some people will hang anything on their walls. The Great Wall of China, I’m cool with, but the Great Wall of Vagina?

Who new vajayjays could be ornaments? In the name of self-discovery and more so, self-realization artist Jamie McCartney cast vags of more than 200 women to create a sculptural piece that is both educational and, well, makes you feel all warm inside.

At least one woman said that is was “liberating” to have a vag cast.

“I would actually recommend to everyone to do this and take a good look at yourself,” one woman said.

Soooo …. would you get your vagina sculpted like so?

There are some concerts that are so epic that they need to be instantly shipped to the Smithsonian and frozen. Usher, when he was at the top of his game, and Beyonce, that unstoppable force, hooked up for such a show.

The two did Usher’s “Bad Girl,” from his “Confessions” album. Sasha Fierce did not disappoint. Enjoy.

Celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz has the Midas touch. Everybody she works with already knows. Late last year when she agreed to shoot Diddy for his “Last Train to Paris” promo pics it was Leibovitz who was the star on the set.

So when she recently shot celebrities such as Queen Latifah and Whoopi Goldberg in Disney-inspired themes you kind of knew who’s house it was. All those egos. All those divas. And yet, Leibovitz made it work.
In the series, which has been in production for the past 4 years, singer Marc Anthony with his wife Jennifer Lopze poses as “Jasmine” and “Aladdin” scene called ‘Where a Whole New World Awaits. Julianne Moore, in one pic, is “The Little Mermaid,” Goldberg is a genie and Latifah is a storm in “Mermaid” as well.

The photoshoot is in itself an epic achievement. Disney was mad at Leibovitz as recently as 2008, when she shot pictures of Disney star Miley Cyrus in sexually suggestive poses.

The photograph, which ran in Vanity Fair,  showed Cyrus without a top, her bare back exposed. In an interview a Disney spokesperson trashed Leibovitz, saying that the shots were “a situation [that] was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines.”

In response, Cyrus issued a public pology:

“I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about.”

Lwivovitz did, too:

“I’m sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted. The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful.”

Cee-Lo Green goes conceptual and cinamatic with this one video. The song, which describes a lady killer’s rampage, features Janelle Monae, Karl Lagerfeld and Kelly Washington and goes off the deep end quick.

Cee-Lo evidently is a serial killer in the video, using novel ways to dispose of his victims (one lady is apparently drowned in chocolate).

Directed by Mikael Colombu Films (who attaches a trailer to his “Reggie B: Elevation” at the very end) the atmospheric joint is gory at times, but way more poetic than, say, Kanye West’s “Monster” video. What do you think about the artistic vision here?

Ever heard that saying, her smile lights up the room?
In a not to far future, people may flash you a smile, and well, really flash.
As you can see from the above video, which was assembled by designers and shows Japanese schoolgirls (paid models) taking the city by storm, the LED style is aglow with glam.

One conceptual design is to make a grill that glows in the dark, using …. wait fo it … LED lights.

in Japan, a clothing store, Laforet Harajuku, unvieled the design for the holidays and people have been asking for them ever since.

The only thing is, they don’t exist. Yet.

Once upon a time in American society there was a black nationalist movement active and united in more than 40 nations and states.
As we approach the ’20s, the 2020s, we have to look back a full century, to the 1920s, when the Universal Negro Improvement Association was established.
The UNI, technically called the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities (Imperial) League, was formed by political activist Marcus Garvey.

The group still exists now, but in two separate manifestations. The UNIA, Inc., and the The UNIA-ACL of the World, both spawned from the one organization.
In the beginnings, the group was a fraternal order that believed in self-sufficiency for the black diaspora.

Garvey said he got the idea for the group after talking to a brown-skinned gentleman amid his world travels:

It was while speaking to a West Indian Negro who was a passenger with me from Southampton, who was returning home to the West Indies from Basutoland with his Basuto wife, I further learned of the horrors of native life in Africa. He related to me in conversation such horrible and pitiable tales that my heart bled within me. Retiring from the conversation to my cabin, all day and the following night I pondered over the subject matter of that conversation, and at midnight, lying flat on my back, the vision and thought came to me that I should name the organization the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities (Imperial) League. Such a name I thought would embrace the purpose of all black humanity. Thus to the world a name was born, a movement created, and a man became known.”
In its preamble it stated the UNIA is a “social, friendly, humanitarian, charitable, educational, institutional, constructive and expansive society, and is founded by persons desiring to do the utmost to work for the general uplift of the people of African ancestry of the world. And the members pledge themselves to do all in their power to conserve the rights of their noble race and to respect the rights of all mankind, believing always in the Brotherhood of Man and the Fatherhood of God. The motto of the organization is ‘One God! One Aim! One Destiny!’ Therefore, let justice be done to all mankind, realizing that if the strong oppresses the weak, confusion and discontent will ever mark the path of man but with love, faith and charity towards all the reign of peace and plenty will be heralded into the world and the generations of men shall be called Blessed.”
Garvey, a native of Jamaica, started the organization in New York with 13 members in 1917. After three months, membership had topped 3,500.
By 1920, the group had 1,100 chapters in more than 40 countries.
One of the signature movements of the UNIA was the “back to Africa” movement. Representatives of the organization enjoyed a fruitful relationship with the then-president of Liberia, even arranging an unprecedented $1 an acre sale of land.
(After everything was agreed upon, the Liberian government reneged coincidentally arranging for a sale of the same land to the multinational Firestorm Tire Co.)
After Garvey was imprisoned, released and deported in 1927 the group splintered amid infighting and lack of clear leadership.

Good photography, like all art, is in the eye of the beholder. But this picture is all kinds of awesome.

Rarely do you see perfect natural lighting, subjects that lend themselves to the moment, and sheer epicness in one shot.

Tupac Shakur is heralded by fans as the greatest rapper ever, and while that may be debatable or even controversial, there’s no denying that the rapper put his fans first.
Before the World Wide Web really took off, people had to access celebrities and music stars the old-fashioned way, through snail mail, particularly to the fan club.
This one girl asked Tupac to take her to the prom, and well, as they say, the rest is history.

“I had wrote a letter saying how much I loved his music to his fan club. At the end I made a joke saying that if he ever read this letter to please take me to my prom since my boyfriend had just broken up with me. About a month later there was a knock at my door and it was him! He was by himself. No reporters no homies just 2pac Shakur at my doorstep. He came in and talked to me and my mom and my brother for about fifteen minutes and asked me if I had gotten a dress yet. I said no and he said he would take care of it and gave me $1500 in all hundred dollar bills and told me to get something pretty. Prom day came and he called and said to be ready. A limo showed up with 2pac in it and went straight to my prom. Everyone was going crazy taking pictures but we hung out there for about thirty minutes. We danced to about five songs then he said he had business to take care of kissed me on the cheek and left. I think the world lost a great person when 2pac was killed and I will always remember his kindness.”

2pac was the real deal.
