The woman with arguably the greatest album of all time by a female rapper/actor/singer (yes, that’s right), got booed off the stage at the Apollo in 1987. Today her debut album, “The Miseducation of Lauren Hill,” is considered a masterpiece and the golden age peak of female lyricism.
Who was really “miseducated”?

Beyonce killed it at the Haiti telethon Saturday. What’s that saying, “not a dry eye in the place”? Yeah, like that.
The song was composed by Ryan Tedder, Evan Bogart and Knowles, although originally intended to go to Leona Lewis then Kelly Clarkston.
According to Bogart, an accomplished songwriter, “Halo” was written in three hours at the studio of Tedder. Bogart has been quoted as saying the track was inspired by Ray LaMontagne’s song “Shelter”.

When we heard the “smoove” soul of Maxwell come back earlier this summer with a decent resurrection, it sparked our appetite for the meat-and-potatoes of modern, sophisticated love-soul, aka, Ms. Lauren Hill.

You don’t understand, we don’t want Lauren Hill; we need Lauren Hill.

We need some “Miseducation” II. We need the extended, unedited and unreleased version of “Tell Him.” We need a sequel to “That Thing.”

Where is Lauren Hill?

Well, she’s actually performing under shining lights amid red-eye flights. Her latest gig is headlining the Stockholm Jazz Fest and then some quieter dates.

But we need that album.
